As far as flea and tick medications go, Frontline for dogs is by far one of the most popular. With thousands of reviews and ratings from satisfied pet owners, I wanted to take a closer look at this medicine and learn more about its track record for killing fleas, ticks, biting lice and skin mites. Whether you have a dog that’s dealing with fleas, or you’re worried about ticks (which can carry Lyme disease), you’ll want to make sure you use a medicine which kills fleas and ticks quickly, as well as their eggs and larvae. That’s why I ultimately chose Frontline for dogs.

The Dangers of Fleas and Ticks

At some point, nearly every dog owner has had to contend with fleas, ticks, biting lice or skin mites. Some dogs even have allergies to these pests, which can make them feel miserable on top of the itching, scratching and biting. If your dog is outdoors, even mosquitoes will likely be looking at him as an easy meal. The good news is that Frontline for dogs will take care of all these “petty” aggravations and help your pet stay healthy and happy by preventing re-infestation.

How Frontline Works

This brand of flea medicine is backed by veterinarians and trusted by pet owners like myself for one simple reason — it just works. You may have tried many other flea remedies like flea collars, pills, sprays and shampoos, but sometimes, those products only kill whatever fleas, ticks or mites are currently lounging around on your pet’s skin and fur. The moment your furry friend sets foot back into the great outdoors, or plops down in his pet bed, it’s like advertising an “All You Can Eat Buffet” to these tiny critters – and they’ll climb aboard right away, causing another cycle of biting and scratching.

Stopping Biting Pests Dead in Their Tracks

Frontline for dogscuts the lifecycle of fleas, ticks, lice and mites short – meaning they can’t reproduce. It kills adults and larvae, and works within days – not weeks. Many pet owners have found that their pet becomes noticeably happier and more active once they’re free of fleas and ticks. It’s that kind of well-being that makes you stop and say “this was well worth it!”. Plus, one topical treatment can last for a full month. Some pet owners find that their application lasts longer, but to be sure you break the lifecycle of the pests, its best to apply it every month.

A former pet shop manager and life-long dog lover, Robbie Wilson has extensive experience in helping people with their dogs, cats and other pets. For information on Frontline for dogs, she recommends http://www.petcarerx.com/catalog/productdetails.aspx?pid=10884

They have got a similar temperament as bulldogs provide but they’re small and much more lovable.

Even though some can find the American Bulldog’s structure and appearance to be very frightening, it’s reduced in size variant, the French bulldog temperament doesn’t have the exact same feel. And another distinction that this Frenchie has over its American counterpart is it is more at home inside.

The fact is, the common size a Frenchie in its adulthood may be only about 2 feet up to its actual highest point. You will even find various bulldogs that can be considerably small sized. They’re even light in weight as compared to many other puppies, despite their sturdy body, they often weigh only about 18 to 22 lbs, while the larger class weight might weigh about 20 to 30 lbs.

And similar to any other purchases, you need to bear in mind first the advantages and disadvantages of a product or service, or in this situation, the dogs breed, and see should the pros may be much better in your situation compared to disadvantages.

These are some of the positives and negatives of the French bulldog temperament that were noted by most owners. Bear in mind, pets, like people, are individuals as well and may also normally different than others.

The PROS

French bulldogs temperament are usually rather intelligent and may also be trained quickly. They are generally good watchdogs once trained properly. They are also not outrageous barker. They bark only when they need something to express to you and also that includes having a thief in your house.

Frenchie also have a great temper and tend to be well socialized. They also like to hunt mice therefore means you won’t need a kitten. Best of all, French bulldogs are amazing companion dogs. They can be very adorable and affectionate and would rather play. Because of their little size, they don’t need a lot of open area or even a huge back or front yard to relax and play or exercise.

The CONS

The French bulldog can be hard headed and stubborn at times. When not trained well, a Frenchie cannot be used as a guard pet.

Also, French bulldogs can get gassy, quickly get drained and hot, breathes noisily while sleeping when in bed, as well as the tendency to slobber.

Furthermore, because of their body structure and bloodline, French bulldogs are known to be horrible in swimming, has difficulty with breathing, and also have difficulties delivering. They’re also known for having many health problems. That’s the reason why they usually are quite pricey and may tend to need a lot more normal visitations to a vet.

Those are just a number of examples that a person would probably find as advantages and disadvantages with a French bulldog.

It’s now your choice if you’re able to cope with the side effects and enjoy the benefits of having and living with the French bulldog temperament.

In this article, we will discuss about different types of dog beds. Also, we will disclose the fact about the requirement of large dog bed.

While we explore the world of petting, we can see that there are loads of things to maintain. Yes, keeping a hound in our house is not the matter of joke. Rather, we need to be very conscious about our effort of petting every time. We are not allowed to neglect our pets, as they also have a life. In that case, our maintenance matters a lot for petting a dog or any other animal. In case of dog, it is not about only the pedigree foods that will suffice their needs of upbringing. Rather, the way they lie down and sleep, that posture also decides their growth and development. In that case, choosing proper dog beds would be the most desirable aspect of maintaining any poodle.

When we go to the market to select suitable Dog Beds for our dogs, we should consider different habits and attributes of the breed of the dog. We should also ensure that if we have bought these beds for our cuddly pet, then he/she should use it properly. In that case, we should not allow our puppy to sleep outside the bed under any circumstance. Yes, in many cases, we have seen that dogs have the tendency to sleep with their master or on the floor. This kind of faulty habit might lead to many difficult situations, where our guests may get annoyed with our poodle. If our dog has a habit of frequent urination, then it might make our beds or carpets or floors messy. So, it is always advisable to grow the habit of proper bedding arrangement for the dog. In that case, these beds are found to be with the water-proof option, where dogs with bed wetting problem might not face the difficulties of water-borne diseases.

If it is the matter of size of the dog bed, then we should consider the lying habit of the dog first. Because, once we see our dogs lied on the bed with curled up position, then small would be preferable. If our dogs have the tendency to dose off in a stretched out position, the Large Dog Bed would be advisable. Moreover, if our breed of dog does not have the scope to grow up, even at his/her grown up age, then small dog bed will suffice the purpose, But, if it is big sized breed of dog, then we must not compromise on the small one over the large dog bed option.

Jag Jenny shares Large Dog Bed and Dog Beds that makes you able to find the plans that best fits your needs.

Dogs aren’t just for the folks with cozy neighborhood houses and big back yards. City folk too enjoy the friendly companionship that our four-legged friends have to offer. But, you may be concerned with the small space an urban apartment or condo has to offer an active critter such as your pup. Well, there are some ways you can help your pup get along just as well when you’re in the big city.

A cozy home

Not all pups are born in the big city, and some have moved there from quiet homes with big yards, so the difference may be a little confusing at first. Sounds will be different, and so will the lighting. These differences will take some getting used to, so be sure that you pay attention to how your pup acts and feels about their new home, too.

Making sure your pup gets exercise

Now that you’re in the big city, a good romp through the yard isn’t like it used to be. So, now you have to make sure that old Blue gets out and stretches his legs on a regular basis. Apartments and condos don’t have enough room to really get a pup their much needed exercise to keep them in shape, so a regular walk is necessary. If you’re new to the area, you’ll want to find a good area that is safe for the both of you and well lit. Parks are a good location, usually full of activity and people that add to the fun. Do try to avoid nighttime and mid-day walks, though. The late afternoon or early morning would be the best times so that you can avoid scorching your pup’s paws on hot cement. For those that are strapped for time, there are professional pet service companies that will help you with this important task.

What about potty time?

This is probably going to be the biggest concern of most big city pup owners. Unlike the folks with a yard, we can’t leave the doggy door open for old Blue to run out and do his business when the time is right. There are grass litter boxes available to help with the big city situation. Instead of having to worry about whether or not you’re going to have a present on the floor when you get home, it might be a good idea to set up a grass litter box for easy access throughout the day so you and your dog can be worry free.

Finding time to play

The most fun part of the city life is of course- play time. We humans enjoy running around and playing with our companions. Since a yard is out of the question, a nearby park can make our outdoor activities just as fun (especially if there are other friends around).

When your pup stays at home, it is important to keep them occupied so they don’t get bored and decide your pillow makes a great chew toy. Plenty of activities should be available, such as the fun Kong toys that keep a pup occupied and some rawhide bones to keep their teeth clean. Not only is this fun time, but it’s exercise time, too.

The most important part of having fun in the big city is to play with your pup. Pups are there for companionship, and even though you’re in the big city and it doesn’t seem like there is much you and your faithful friend can do together, you always have each other to play with.

Be it milk or solid food, after each serve, the bowl should be thoroughly cleaned to make sure that the germs do not multiply. Stale food and leftovers on the plate are not only harmful for the health of the dog but will also make the food less appetizing as the dogs have a very sharp sense of smell.

Dog are available in various materials like plastic, ceramic and steel. For bigger breeds, steel will be a good choice as it is strong and solid and wont break even if its dropped down or bitten hard by the dog. However it is expensive than plastic and has not many choices or colors.

Ceramic is comparatively easy to clean and matches with the décor of your home. However the risk of breakage is very high and it could be risky to serve the dog in broken plates as it might cause lethal injuries to them.

Plastic Dog on the other hand is not too heavy and can be put in a dish washer; it is economical and is available in a range of colors. However the catch is that the dogs might bite and break them and the germs multiply easily as these cannot be sterilized with hot water. Considering the pros and cons, stainless steelbowl is a better choice.

Here are some handy tips in keeping the dog clean and sterile.

The bowl should be washed with soap and water before the food is served to the animal. It is recommended that the bowls are taken for washing as soon as the animal has finished eating. If this is practically not possible every time, make sure that you soak the dog bowls in warm soap water for a while before scrubbing it clean. The leftovers are likely to harden and stick to the sides of the bowl making it difficult to clean. Make sure that the soap is thoroughly washed off to prevent the soap particles from getting into the pet’s body with its meals. After a thorough wash, it is recommended to air dry the dog before it is used for the next meals.Choosing a right dog bowl will go a long way in keeping the dogs well fed and healthy. However, to keep the bowls clean and sterile is not easy as it might appear. Sanitation is of prime importance in keeping the dogs healthy and disease free. Just like humans, dogs are also highly vulnerable to diseases caused by germs due to dirty bowls.

Dog bowls are available in online pet shops where you will find all other accessories like orthopedic dog beds , dog seat covers, leashes and collars among others.

They are used for tracking and hunting, as bird dogs, for obedience competitions, as service dogs for the handicapped and for the detection of narcotics. Outside of the working abilities of the Golden Retriever, they make wonderful pets as they are great with children and with other dogs. In 1925, the AKC recognized the Golden Retriever as a breed.

Their coats makes these dogs very easy to care for. Their hair is medium in length and they have a smooth double coat. Caring for their hair is a fairly easy process. It is important to groom the undercoat and a bristle brush that is firm is the best tool for the job. It is good to use a dry shampoo to wash them but an occasional bath may be necessary. They do shed but it is considered to be an average amount when compared to some other breeds.

Golden Retrievers need to be exercised on a daily basis. You can take them out for a long walk around the neighborhood or have them run alongside of you as you take a ride on your bicycle. They have a natural instinct to follow the leader so when they are trained that the human is the leader they will heel and be right by your side. They love to chase and retrieve toys and balls and this can help them get the necessary exercise as well. When this breed does not get enough exercise you may find that they are hyperactive so be sure to take them out on a daily basis.

Some people are afraid to keep a Golden Retriever as a pet if they live in an apartment. While they are medium to large sized dogs, keeping them in an apartment is possible as long as you are willing to take them out to exercise on a regular basis. They do better when they have a large or medium size run in which they can run and play.

Golden Retrievers are prone to have some specific health conditions. These conditions include hip dysplasia, cancer, heart problems, and congenital eye defects. It is common for this breed to have skin allergies that require treatment by a veterinarian. They do gain weight fairly easily so their food intake should be monitored.

The average weight of a Golden Retriever is between 55 and 80 pounds and they are typically between 30 and 24 inches tall. These dogs are family friendly and have a life expectancy of between ten and twelve years. They are a great addition to any family and the owners typically, very quickly, fall in love with their personalities and their beauty.

A female flea lays hundreds of eggs on your dog. Thus, fleas carry other parasites such as tapeworms. With this there is a possibility that your dog has tapeworm too.

Dog’s immune system reacts to the saliva, containing protein when he got bitten. The, this will cause skim allergy right away. Your dog will scratch non stop for a week and it will cause hair loss. Fleas might be gone when you realized your dogs are scratching. Below are a few ways to keep fleas away:

- Bath your dog and wash his beddings in flea shampoo. It will only remove them.

- Homemade spray can be made with apple cider vinegar, water, 3 types of oil, lavender, peppermint and eucalyptus oil. Use it on your dog’s fur.

- Bug Off Garlic is useful in keeping fleas away.

- Use Skin-So-Soft from Avon but you have to mix a gallon of water to every 3 tablespoon.

- Flea color but keep an eye on your dog because it is health hazard.

- Xenex is an herbal treatment that keeps fleas away.

- Add one drop of each: Cedarwood, Eucalyptus,Lavender, Lemon, Mint, Rosemary or Terebinth to every 150ml or half cup. Then, brush it all the way on your dog’s skin.

When your bulldog reacts to the bite, you can do something to soothe his body such as:

Say you’ve got a litter of puppies and while you’re cleaning up, you notice that something is not quite right with one of them. You can hardly believe your eyes, but right in the middle of his butter-colored siblings sits a black colored puppy shuffling blindly about.

Now, you shouldn’t get worried at all. The black Golden Retriever, as most dog enthusiasts theorize, is merely a very rare and recessive gene that was expressed by the puppy. Most enthusiasts trace the origin of this gene back to one of the Golden Retriever’s ancestors, the Flat-Coat Retriever. This type of retriever had a black coat gene in its genetic makeup, and it’s possible that this gene is simply buried deep within modern Golden Retrievers. Be that as it may, it proves that black Golden Retriever is no different than golden colored ones, and do not need any special attention or treatment.

For the most part, taking care of black Golden Retrievers is pretty much the same as taking care of the golden colored ones. They will mature and grow at the same rate, which means that they will require the same amount of food. For puppies below three years of age, you need to feed them three times a day. Mature dogs only need to eat once a day, unless the dog has regular exercise, then you can feed it twice. You will need to refer to a breed-specific age, weight and height chart to know just how much to feed your black Golden Retriever.

Another similarity between the two “varieties” is that both are very intelligent. Puppies are curious and love to explore, and are quick to learn about things. If you try teaching a black Golden Retriever tricks or you’re trying to toilet train it, you’ll find that it’s generally no easier or harder to do so. You can use the same methods, tips and strategies that you use to train a white or golden retriever. You can teach both types of retriever to walk on a leash and collar or a harness without any problem from either one.

Since their biggest difference is their coat color, it’s possible this is what would be different in their care. For white or golden retrievers, brushing and check the fur and the skin underneath is easy when the fur is light, and the skin is easy to spot underneath the fur. For the black version, however, since the fur is black and it is harder to spot parasites such as fleas and ticks hiding in the fur. You therefore may want to use more flea or tick repellent on a black golden retriever.

So as you can see, aside from the difference in the coat color, both retrievers are similar to each other. As long as you have the same patience and passion for molding your black golden retriever as you do for the golden retriever, then you will have no problem taking care of this beautiful black baby!

When emergency situations occur you should assess your dog. Observe and carefully approach your dog. Know if he is breathing or he is bleeding. Do not rush into things without assessing. They bite when they are scared or in pain. Always remember to keep your face away from the dogs’ mouth. To reassure your dog that everything is in control use a soothing voice. The dog will be scared when you shout, and you do not want to scare him. If you need to take him to the dogs’ clinic, you have to put a muzzle when the wounds are too painful. Smaller dogs can be wrapped in a blanket or towel. You can also use stretchers such as a board or blanket to carry him using a hammock-style sling.

You have to buy first-aid supplies for dogs that include a first aid manual for you to read and for a quick reference. The veterinarian data sheet must be ready at all times. Data in this sheet contains information such as name, age, weight and breed of your dog. Also, the telephone number of your veterinarian, the health and vaccination records of your dog. The first-aid kit should also contain a digital rectal thermometer. This is to check the temperature of your dog if he has a fever. Vaseline and KY Jelly are also important to lubricate the tip of the thermometer. An injured animal should be kept warm blankets, and an ice pack is also beneficial. A soft fabric muzzle, tweezers, scissors, rubber latex gloves, eye droppers, cotton balls, bandages, adhesive tapes, antiseptics and medications should be included in the kit.

Medication is the most important part of your first aid supplies for dogs. Medicines such as kaopetate, Pepto Bismol, PNP Buffered Aspirin for dogs, Bebe-Bac Gel, Pure calm for anxiety and panic attacks, Dramamine, Benadryl tablets, Pedialyte, Sterile Saline Solution and ear cleaning solution must also be available. Other items that are useful and should be included in your first aid kits will be the lightweight leash and collar, a flashlight and a clean wash cloth.

Again, first aid is not intended as an alternative for medical and veterinary care but it is useful stabilizing the condition of the animal before reaching a veterinary clinic and with proper care given by specialized veterinarians. This first-aid care should be followed by a veterinarian’s attention or any other animal emergency clinic. Being prepared has more chances of survival.

Follow the painless ideas below and you will find you can confidently call your dog to come.

1. Your dog must come to expect only beneficial things, when he obeys the “come” command.

When you summon your dog with the “come” command, never reward him with a reproof. If there are going to be any objectionable results, you need to go to your dog, not call him.

If you need you dog for any process he’s not a fan of, don’t call him with the “come” command. When you have a dog that thinks baths or having his nails trimmed obnoxious, don’t use the”come” command when you need him for this.

2. Coming on command must be a rewarding experience.

At the start use a reward that your dog finds highly motivational, like food, play or a favorite toy. To teach your dog to come all the way to you, bring the reward closer to you as he approaches.

Rather than handing the reward to your dog, make him come in to your side to gain his reward. Get a firm handle on your dog before giving over the reward.

Finally you want your dog to come for a verbal or physical rewards, so it best to stop using food and toy rewards over time.

Since you may not have any treats ready to hand in an emergency. Safety reasons could well mean that you need your dog to come when he knows you don’t have a treat.

3. While you are training a dog to come you need to be able to control that he does in fact come to you.

Don’t fall into the trap of allowing your dog to ignore or dismiss you and end up teaching that he is permitted to do as he pleases.

A walled in area is the ideal place to start teaching your dog to “come”. Try to get your dog to come with out the leash a time or two in the beginning. You want to teach your dog to “come” to you regardless of whether he is on or off the leash.

Prior to using the “come” command call your dog’s name, so that you know you have his full concentration. Then go in the opposite course. This is designed is to get you dog to go after you. Call excitedly, heaping praise on him until he is near enough to grip his collar.

This is the right time to give him his preferred reward and lots of praise. Now back up again repeating the procedure so that he learns the command. Training should be brief so that your dog can maintain his concentration.

In the event that after a few times you still can’t get you dog to come or he just doesn’t come close enough. Employ a leash to train you dog to come.

Commence again calling your dog and the issuing the “come” command. However now you apply soft pressure to leash, guiding your dog to you.

Only ever use a little pressure to get you dog heading in the right direction and obeying the command.

These three steps are the key to getting your dog to come every time you call. If you educate your dog to come, you’ll know that you will be able to keep your dog safe.
